Stats Edge Evening Note - 9/1/26

Tonight's free idea isn't a company at all - it's SPY, the whole U.S. market in one ticker, and the index itself is the trade.

The S&P 500 (SPY) slipped -0.30% to close at 767.05 while the Nasdaq 100 (QQQ) edged up +0.05% to 716.76. Energy (XLE) led all sectors at +2.04%, while Communications (XLC) lagged at -1.35%.

The book rolls to zero Monday, September 7. Everyone in before then starts from the exact same zero I do, your book matches mine from its very first trade. After that, you're catching a moving train.

SPY - State Street SPDR S&P 500 ETF

Entry: market at the open (no limit) - Exit: sell into strength

Last close $767.05 (-0.3%) - volume 38.5M (20-day average 38.7M) - 52-week range $630.35 to $777.88 (-1% off the high) - ATR (14 days) $5.04

Turnaround Tuesday. The oldest calendar effect in the book: the index slides for consecutive sessions into the early week, and the snap-back tends to be quick. We buy the weakness and sell the first show of strength.
